- San Jose, Feb. 28 (ANDINA). The third round of negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) between Peru and the Central American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Panama started on Monday and will run until Friday, March 4, in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Representatives from the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) of Peru's Ministry of Agriculture have traveled to Costa Rica to participate in a meeting on sanitary and phytosanitary issues.
The first round of trade talks was held in Lima from November 8 to 12 last year and resulted in further rapprochement and common methodologies to be used.
The second round took place in Panama City from January 17 to 21 and resulted in important agreements on competition policy, trade remedies, technical barriers to trade and dispute resolution.Other important topics covered during the round included market access, rules of origin, customs procedures and cooperation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, services, investments, and intellectual property.
