Lima, Jan. 25 (ANDINA). Peruvian Danza de las Tijeras (Scissors dance), recently included in the Representative List of the Unesco’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, will head Chinese New Year’s Parade in Hong Kong. 24 dancers from Ayacucho and Huancavelica regions have been invited to open this millenary show.
The announcement was made by Damian de los Santos "Ccarcaria", who detailed that the Chinese Culture Ministry granted them the honor of opening this parade with two other foreign delegations, which also represent ancient cultures like the Peruvian.
The grand parade, set to mark the first evening of Chinese New Yearin Hing Kong, will take place on February 2.
“This invitation is the result of the recognition of Danza de las Tijeras as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco”, noted Deputy Culture Minister Jose Carlos Vilcapoma, who will fly with the delegation of dancers to China.
The invitation includes air tickets and stay; however, the 24 dancers have organized a show to cover other expenses. This event will take place at Maria Angola Convention Center on January 29.
