BPZ Resources to launch Peru Nueva Esperanza TPP by 2013

(ADPnews) - Mar 21, 2011 - US-based oil company BPZ Resources Inc (NYSE:BPZ) expects to launch its planned thermoelectric power plant (TPP) for Nueva Esperanza district, Peru's northwestern Tumbes region, at the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013, the company told Peru's news agency Andina on Sunday.
Initially, the TPP will have an installed capacity of 135 MW, operating with gas from BPZ's offshore block Z-1 in Tumbes.

The capacity may later be increased to 270 MW amid an expansion of the transmission line in the area and if additional gas reserves in Z-1 are confirmed, BPZ's general manager, Rafael Zoeger, reportedly said.

The facility is foreseen to be connected to the Zorritos power substation so that the generated electricity can enter the national power network SEIN.

According to BPZ, investments in the project are estimated at USD 150 million (EUR 105.9m), including the construction of a gas pipeline, which will transport the natural gas from Z-1.
